 Every week, FutaNewsandGist seeks to interact with random FUTA Students and ask for their permission to share their stories on the blog. Some stories will be hilarious, some are life-changing, others are awkward while the reset fall in between.

Wait, before we start, why does Mathematics have so many Enemies?

 You know prior before I got admitted to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), I thought I was the only one who hated Maths.
    So one day when I was venting my frustration, I got to meet more people who were in the same shoe.
  I think the reason why most students hate Maths is simply because of its "difficulty in understanding" and more "time-demanding"


But Mathematics is not the only Difficult Subject even in High School?

 Actually Mathematics is very cunny. When we're talking about it, we're referring to Calculations, Formulas and Equations. 
    And if you check other courses too (either in FUTA or other schools), you'll find Mathematics disguising itself in the name of another course.

 It's kind of Complicated. 


Complicated as how?

 Let's just say - Mathematics Choose Me (winks) 


Oh really.. So Are you still in enmity with Mathematics 

  That was then.
Now, am in Tranquil with the course although am still trying my best to understand it

Wait, you mean you no longer hate Maths 

Yes, i don't 

How did you do it? Like can you tell us when you changed 

It actually kind of just happened. 

  You know, I found out in my latter years that I've kind of changed. We all know how we got here and we can tell when something changed in us. 

Changed as How? Can you explain 

Before, when confronted with a difficult situation, I only "merely" look at the situation hence solution always take time to find. 
   But now i can "critically" look at a company, product, software, or even sometimes life and deduce solution for loopholes. 

Can every or only Mathematics Student Do That? 

    Almost but not all students.

 Problem solving skill is actually a skill every Students can learn irregardless of their course. It all depends on willingness of the individual. 

  But i think (am not saying it is entirely true) that being a Mathematics student has an upper advantage (winks)

Any word of Advice for Fellow FUTA Students 

  It is an honor and a very big responsibility to be a FUTA Student. Watch out for Opportunities in your field or (sometimes) outside your field if that's where your heart is. 

   But do not belittle your efforts. Every single drop 💧 of your efforts count.

Being a 'Bonafide' FUTA Student isn't only about having the FUTA ID Card hanging around your neck. It is also about knowing the right Lecture theater as well as right places in school in order to save you stress and time.
10 places in FUTA You Should Know - FutaNewsandGist

       While there are lots of places, lecture theater, recreational places, buildings and etc in the Institution; the FutaNewsandGist Crew had culled out some of the most important places and listed them in this article you are about to read. To cut the long story short; here are 10 Important Places You Should Know Inside FUTA.

1. FUTA Senate Building

  The Senate Building is the like the power building that govern the laws and regulations of the Institution. As a FUTA Student, it is the place where you get to collect your notification of results - if you needed it for scholarship or Transcript and the likes.

   The Senate Building is a Go-To Area if you needed the Notification of your result to know your current G.P as well as collect Transcripts.

2. ETF Lecture Theatre

While there are different and lots of Lecture theaters popularly referred to as LT inside the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), there are some Lecture theater you'll need to be familiar with as a Student.

    The most popular lecture theatre is the ETF 750 Capacity Lecture theater as almost all students in the school will one time or the other have their lecture in this LT. You might want to read find out 100L - 500L First Semester Courses You Must Watch Out For.


3. Student Union Building (SUB)

The Student Union Building can also simply be referred to as the FUTASU Secretariat. But apart from serving as that; it is also a place for recreational activities - such as Food, Drinks, Relaxing, Buying Materials, and e.t.c

  More importantly; if you have anything you'd like to make complain about as regards your studentship; you can visit the SUB building and ask for the FUTASU Office. 

4. Computer Resource Center (CRC)

For all your FUTA Computer Based Exams (CBE) or Computer Based Test (CBT), the Computer Resource Center [CRC] is located the department of Computer Science is a place that all bonafide students must be familiar with.

  This simply means as a FUTArian, all of your exams and tests which are to be done with Computer will be done at CRC. As a matter of fact; Post Utme Candidates are not left out as they do also make use of the Computer Resource Center for their exams.

5. FUTA Albert Ilemobade Library

Almost each faculty in the Federal University of Technology, Akure had their own Library for educational purposes. However Albert Ilemobade Library is the General Library which comprises of all of the Faculty Course materials - digital and physical materials for students' use.

    Not only that the library is for reading alone; you can as well have Educational Discussion in the Hangout Session, discover latest happenings via the Newspaper section, Use a PC for free at the E-library section and more.

In a recent tweet by the FUTA Student Union; a poll was asked to seek Students opinion on what they think about having access to FUTA WiFi for a Session at an additional cost of #2000.

Importance of Internet for Students and in Modern Life

The Internet is an extremely important thing in which it's importance in not only in education but also other fields such as business, healthcare, government and etc. 
    For Students; there is a great need for Internet in order to make research in order to improvise in their fields. Also; Internet helps to discover opportunities for students - the list is endless.

Major Obstacles To Using Internet Today in Nigeria

Despite the importance of Internet as earlier mentioned; there are still some obstacles to Internet usage in Nigeria. Some of these issues includes slow connection and heavy data rates. Although in the part of data rates; Nigerian telecoms are improvising on reducing data rates.
     However the issue of slow connection is still something that needs to be tackled with.

FUTA Planning to Introduce FUTA WiFi for all Students - Your Opinion


I could recall at a particular when i was discussing with someone who says it would have been best if all FUTA Students had access to Free WiFi even if it were to be included among school fees. This would save a lot of students having to worry about running out of internet subscription.

Yes or No? || An Access to FUTA WiFi for a Session at #2000?

Mr Lawal Saheed Adesile of the Department of Physiology, School of Health and Health Technology (SHHT) in FUTA headlined the 2019 Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA Convocation Ceremony, as he was presented as the best graduating student.

      He made First Class with the highest score in FUTA History which is the CGPA of 4.92 out of 5.00.

Lawal Saheed Adesile received a thunderous ovation when he was presented at the FUTA 31st Convocation Ceremony where 153 Students Bag First Class with Mr Lawal Saheed as the Best Graduating Student.

In 2018, L.S.A as popularly nick-known in school was awarded a grant as the best Physiology Student in Nigeria by the Physiological Society (Physoc) UK with an additional opportunity of travel grants to attend the international conference annually.

On Facebook, he said he attended adonai private college and hails from Ikire, Osun State. When asked about some of his experience in school; Mr Lawal Saheed Adesile said;

"There was a day i went for night class and it was rainning heavily and couldn't assimilate what i was reading but i just had to pushed harder because i had made up my mind to be the best in whatever am doing the moment i got admitted to FUTA"


He further encouraged students not to relent and that success does not come easy but through hardworking and struggles.

[SPEECH] - Meet Lawal Saheed Adesile, FUTA's Best Graduating Student

This is to inform the entire student populace that the ENTIRE CITY of Akure is currently void of power supply and NOT FUTA alone.
    Hence the reason why there hasn't been power supply ON CAMPUS and OFF CAMPUS.

Causes of The POWER FAILURE 

   The power problem has being identified to be from the POWER SOURCE at OSHOGBO.
   Based on information reaching us, this would be resolved soon.

 As we are in examination period and power supply is known to be paramount to our preparation; The UNIVERSITY GENERATOR would be powering the campus at CERTAIN PERIODS of the day, and most especially at night.
    We also sympathize with residents of the Obanla halls of residence that are faced with the power supply not being supplied to their hostels.

5 Quick Tips for Preparation of Exams
  This is as a result of a bad pole and wiring around the axis which is being replaced. THE FUTA Students UNION implore all students to remain strong in this period, as the inconveniences would not last longer than necessary.

NOTICE OF POWER OUTAGE + Solutions in FUTA, Akure and Environs

For the people outside the country, Nigerians have been tagged and given bad names such as Fraudsters.
   What worsen the situation is the recent report of the largest fraud cases in History whereby 77 Nigerians are implicated in the case. But does that mean all Nigerians are bad eggs, of course NO.

Dah_Unique as popularly known is a Futarian comedian who documents his comedy skits on mostly Student lifestyles, their huddles and any fascinating events he's inspired to. His comedy videos are shared as well as discussed among futarians due to the hilarious way he poses them.

Can you kindly introduce yourself

My name is Adams Paul . I'm popularly addressed as Dah_Unique

FutaNewsandGist got to know you through one of your Comedy skits. When did you got to Start Video Comedy Skits?

[smiles] 

Well.. I can say making comedy videos made me popular to some extent. I actually started making comedy videos since 2017. That was after I finished my secondary school exams which is before I sat for futa post utme 

What motivates you to start Comedy Skits?

I sat down one day.. And I was like.. Let me start making comedy videos... 

 Although i wouldn't want to say making comedy videos was an accident. I believe I'm funny naturally as i make people around me laugh when I'm talking most times. So i was just surfing the Internet when I came across a video editing App.
   Since i was done with most of my exams back then, i started playing around with the App.. Then comedy ideas was flowing through my head. I started watching more and more comedy videos.. 

And boom! Here I am today.

Can you tell us who your Role Model is?

I actually love twyse videos .. I can say... He is my role model.. Because I love his creativity too.

In Nigeria; we know how demanding it is to be a Full-time Student most especially here in FUTA. What are some of the Challenges you face and how did you cope with them?

Well, it's not an easy task. For instance; Sometimes i will want to make a video, and I wouldn't be able to because I have exams or tests or the likes. However I make more videos when the semester is still very Young. Because then, there will still be time
    But towards the ending of a semester, The number of videos I produce will be less.

Do you hope to continue Comedy skits after School?

I don't really plan on stopping after school
